It must have been more than he could bear because he lifted her and slammed her down on his cock. Lexie could take a hint, especially a not-so-subtle one, and she began to ride him in earnest, her ass slapping against his thighs as she impaled herself on his shaft over and over again. Sweat slicked their bodies as she stoked the fire building inside of them.

Drew reached for her clit, his thumb stroking the sensitive bud. It was all Lexie needed and she came, screaming his name, riding him harder than ever. With a shout, Drew found his release, grasping her hips as he thrust into her.

He rolled them so that she lay beneath him and kissed her tenderly. When he pulled out, he cursed. His lips thinned and his brow furrowed.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, pushing up on her elbows.

  “The condom broke.”

A chill settled over Lexie. If he’d been the player he claimed to be…

“I’m clean. I was tested just last week, and I haven’t been with anyone since,” he assured her.

“I’m clean too. I was tested when I moved back to Bryson Corners.”

“Are you on the pill?” he asked.

She slowly shook her head. “My prescription ran out last month, and I couldn’t get in to see Dr. Monroe until next week.”

He nodded. “Well, we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. If you find out you’re pregnant, you’ll let me know, right?”

  “Yeah. I’ll let you know.”

His lips twisted. “I guess that killed the mood.”

Lexie reached for his hand. “Only if we let it.”

  “Come shower with me?”

She rose from the bed and followed him into the adjoining bath. It might not be the perfect ending to their night together, but she didn’t regret being with Drew. He’d been unlike any guy she’d ever been with. No, it hadn’t lasted very long, but it had been incredible. She couldn’t wait to have another taste.

As the water sluiced over their bodies, her hands explored every inch of him. His body was hard all over, and the hair on his chest tickled her palms. Drew gazed down at her, heat flaring in his eyes. Her hands drifted down his abdomen, stopping when his cock rose to brush against them. The man was perfection. There just wasn’t any other way to describe him. The contrast of her pale hand against his darker skin was beautiful.

Drew slid open the shower door and reached out to grab a condom off the nearby counter. He ripped it open with his teeth and slid it down his shaft. Lexie watched in rapt fascination, her fingers itching to stroke him, but he didn’t give her a chance. He gripped her waist and lifted her, turning so that her back hit the wall, then he eased her down on his hard length. Tingles shot from her pussy to her nipples as he entered her.

Lexie grabbed Drew’s shoulders as he began powering into her, each stroke longer and harder than the last. Her nipples brushed against him, the tips swollen and sensitive. She felt her orgasm building, her body tightening, straining for more. He kissed her, his lips nibbling and teasing. Lexie’s nails bit into his shoulder as her release tore through her. She felt Drew thrust three more times, then he was coming, his face buried in her neck.

He eased from her body and set her back down on her feet. Pressing a quick kiss to her lips, he got out and disposed of the condom before climbing back into the shower. He pulled her into his arms and she went willingly. No one had ever touched her body the way Drew did, made her feel so out of control. She wondered if it would always be like this between them, or if she’d even have a chance to find out.

They dried off and Drew carried her back to bed. As they cuddled close, Lexie rested her head on his chest, listening to his heart thump against her ear.

“Why do you rodeo?” she asked.

“At first, it was the thrill of the ride.”

“And the attention of the women?”

He laughed. “Yeah, maybe that had something to do with it, too. But now, I ride because I enjoy it and it allows me to save money aside for something I can do after I’m a washed-up cowboy.”

“Have you thought about what you want to do?”

He stroked her back. “I don’t know. I wouldn’t mind having a ranch someday, but I’m a long ways off from being able to afford something like that. I suppose I have enough land here to keep a few horses, but nothing like what I see in my mind when I think of the future. I’d like to have a herd of cattle and train horses on the side.”

“Won’t the cattle keep you pretty busy?”

“I’m sure I’ll hire people to help me out. What about you?”

“I used to have hopes and dreams, but not anymore. Well, that’s not entirely true. I’d like to move out of the trailer, and get a cute house somewhere. Have a decent, steady job that I could be proud of.”

  “All of that sounds doable.”

She toyed with the hair on his chest. “Yeah, I guess so.”

“Did you mean what you said at the bar, about why you approached me?”

She looked up at him. “Yes, I did. I’ve never met anyone like you before, Drew, and I knew being with you would be magical. I just wasn’t sure you’d give me a chance.”

  “Why wouldn’t I? You’re a beautiful, sexy woman, Lexie.”

  “I’m also overweight.”

His hands skimmed her body. “Baby, if this is overweight, what do you call skinny? You’re perfection…soft in all the right places.”

“You really think so?” She smiled.

“Didn’t I just get through showing you what I think of this smokin’ hot body of yours?” he asked. “Twice, in fact.”

  She nodded.

“Then don’t argue with me. You’re sexy as hell.”

  “Thank you,” she said softly.

He brushed a kiss against her lips. “Why don’t you close your eyes for a bit? Morning is going to be here before you know it.”

Lexie’s eyes slid shut and she burrowed into him, loving the feel of his arms around her. She could easily get used to this.

  Chapter Three

Sunlight streaming through the window woke Lexie the next morning. She cracked her eyes open to find Drew watching her, a half-smile on his handsome face. Reaching up, she caressed his cheek, his whiskers rasping against her fingers.

He grabbed her hand and kissed her fingertips. “I need to shave.”

  “I like it. It’s sexy.”

“So, what should we do today? The whole day is yours. We can catch a movie in town, grab some lunch at the diner, or…” He waggled his eyebrows. “We could stay in bed all day.”

She laughed. “I think you’re going to have to feed me.”

He glanced at the clock. “Well, sweetness, you slept too late for breakfast. It’s nearly eleven o’clock. How about I run you by your place so you can change and then we swing by the diner for some lunch, and we can plan our day from there?”

She twirled her finger across his chest in a pattern. “You really want to spend the day with me?”

He kissed her, hard. “Of course I do. Now get up, woman, and put your clothes on. I’ll sneak you home so people don’t realize you spent the night.”

She laughed. “I don’t think it matters if they know. Everyone at the bar saw us leave together last night. Half of them were my neighbors, so they already know I spent the night.”

“Where do you live anyway?” he asked as he pulled on some clothes.

She rolled out of bed and pulled on her panties and bra before shimming into her jeans. “Over off Branson Road.”

He frowned. “There’s nothing down there but some old farm houses and the trailer park. So help me, if you tell me you’re living in one of those rundown farmhouses, I’ll tan your ass. Those places aren’t fit for mice to live in.”

She felt her cheeks pink. “No. I live in the trailer park.”

He stopped dressing long enough to stare at her. “What the hell are you doing living there? It’s full of alcoholics and drug users. You’re just asking for trouble by staying there––a beautiful woman, al
one? I don’t like it, Lexie.”

She shrugged. “It’s what I can afford. I work from home, but work is slow right now.”

“What do you do? There has to be a way to get more business so you can move out of there.”

“I edit for a small publisher that’s just getting started. They’ve only been publishing two books a week, so the pay is minimal, and there aren’t any benefits. I want to expand, but I’m new to the business so I have to get my feet wet. This start-up company was willing to give me a chance, so I’m sticking with them.”

  He grumbled something.

“Look, this house is going to sit empty the three weeks I’m gone. Why don’t you stay here?”

She tightened her jaw and shook her head. “I’m not taking your charity, Drew. I’ve been standing on my own two feet the past few years. I’m not about to back down now, just because you don’t like where I live. If you don’t want to be seen with trailer trash, say so now and we’ll part ways.”

He came around the bed so fast she didn’t have time to move away. He grabbed her arm and hauled her into his body, leaning down until their noses nearly touched.

“Let’s get one thing straight right now. I have not at any point thought of you as trailer trash, nor will I. You may live in the trailer park, but you and I both know you don’t belong there.”

“I’m not giving up my home just because you don’t like where I live,” she mumbled.

He sighed. “We’ll discuss it later, when I get back from the rodeo. I just hope to God nothing happens to you between now and then. It really isn’t safe living there, Lexie. I have reason to worry.”

She nodded and pulled away from him to finish dressing. She knew he was right, but she didn’t have to like it. Yes, living in the trailer park was dangerous, but it was all she could afford right now. The rent was only three-fifty a month for a two-bedroom, the utilities were minimal, and it left her just enough money to pay for cable and buy groceries and gas for her car. It was the ideal place for her right now, even if there was a hint of danger in the air. She minded her own business and hoped the other residents would leave her be.

Drew had a point, though. It wasn’t a place she could live long-term. She needed more editing jobs to come her way, and soon. The cheapest apartment in Bryson Corners was a hundred more a month than she paid now, even if it was in a slightly better neighborhood. Something told her the cowboy wouldn’t be satisfied until she was right where he wanted her: in his home. Something had happened between them last night, especially during their post-coital cuddle. They’d talked some more, though nothing big, just general getting-to-know-you things. But they’d bonded during that time, and there was no going back.

It didn’t take long to reach the trailer park and she pointed out her place. Drew parked next to her car and they walked up to her door, with him scanning the area the whole way. She knew he expected trouble, but really, things had been fairly quiet since she’d moved in. Lexie pushed open the door and checked her cell phone for messages. She’d left it at home the previous night, knowing she wouldn’t hear it in the bar. One missed call from Shelly, probably wondering how her night went. She’d call her later, much later.

“Make yourself at home,” she told Drew, as he closed the door. “I’ll only be a minute.”

When she entered her bedroom, she went straight to the closet, pulling out a pretty blue sundress with little white daisies printed on it. She stripped out of her clothes and pulled on the sundress, then slipped on a cute pair of sandals to match. Lexie picked up her favorite, and currently only, perfume and spritzed some on her wrists and neck. She ran a brush through her hair and checked her reflection before rejoining Drew in the living room. She caught him perusing the pictures on her bookshelf.

He pointed to one of her and Shelly that had been taken the year before she went to the city. “This is you, and the woman you were with last night.”

“Shelly. She’s my best friend. Even when I moved away, we stayed in touch.”

“I recognize a few people from the other photos, mostly from seeing them around town. I’m afraid we don’t have the same friends.”

She smiled. “I didn’t think we would. I don’t follow the rodeo circuit, never have.”

  He nodded.

  “Are you ready? I’m starving!”

He reached out and laced their fingers together. “Why don’t you grab a change of clothes for the morning?”

“You want me to stay over again?” she asked softly.

“Yeah. I want you stay the night again. I’d like it if you were there in the morning. I can drop you by your place on my way out of town.”

“Okay.” She smiled. “Just give me a minute.”

Lexie hurried back into the bedroom, grabbed an overnight bag, and threw in a few essentials – like her hairbrush and toothbrush – then packed a change of clothes. She was both excited and nervous about staying with Drew again. The first time had been more of an accident. They’d merely fallen asleep talking last night. They’d discussed her staying over, but she’d still questioned herself about it, not wanting to completely commit. But this was different. He was going to spend the whole day with her, and the night too. It was like they were an actual couple. She supposed this would give her an idea of what it would be like to date him.

This time when she left her trailer, she locked up tight, knowing she wouldn’t return until morning. When they reached the diner, he came around to her side and opened her door, helping her out of the truck. They walked inside, hand in hand, causing the busy diner to quiet a bit. She wasn’t sure if they were surprised at seeing the two of them together because neither of them had dated anyone around town recently, or because of the color of their skin. She hated to think it was the second, especially in these modern times, but Bryson Corners was a small town and it bred small minds.

They settled into a booth in the corner and Drew immediately reached for her hand across the table. Her heart warmed at the contact and she smiled at him. It would be oh so easy to fall in love with him, if she weren’t careful. Part of her wondered if it would really be such a bad thing. Just because she hadn’t done the whole relationship thing in a while didn’t mean it was a horrible idea. Yes, he travelled a lot for his work, but every relationship had its issues. Something told her Drew was worth the extra effort.

  Only time would tell.

  Chapter Four

After a rather interesting lunch, a movie with lots of explosions and a hint of a love story, and a walk through the park, they found themselves back at Drew’s house. The sun was already setting and it was time for dinner––not that either of them had thought about food, not with all of the kisses they’d been stealing for the past hour.

Lexie gave him a sassy grin, as the front door closed. She reached under her dress and slipped her panties down her legs and kicked them away, along with her sandals. He arched a brow and watched, waiting to see what she was up to.

“Remember how I said I went after what I wanted?” she asked, reaching for his belt.

“I do seem to recall that.”

“I want you, Drew. Here. Now.”

She finished unfastening his jeans and shoved them down his legs. He was already hard and throbbing, his cock twitching in time with his heartbeat.

“Condom’s in my wallet,” he said, grinning.

She bent down to retrieve it, sliding the leather square from his pocket. After removing the condom, she tore the wrapper open and slid the latex down his shaft. Drew gathered her dress in his hands, pulling it up around her waist, then lifted her, pressing her back to the wall.

“Wrap your legs around my waist,” he demanded.

She complied, more than willing. As he sank into her, she bit back a moan, her fingers curling around his shoulders. The pleasure was so intense she nearly came just from him entering her. Drew began to tunnel in and out of her, thrusting harder and longer, going deeper each time, until she was clawing at his shoulders and crying out
his name, her pussy convulsing around his cock as she came. Still he pounded into her. Her orgasm had barely slowed before he shifted, entering her from a different angle, triggering another orgasm. His mouth claimed hers as he came, their breaths mingling as Drew cried out her name against her lips.

He kissed her softly. “One of these days, I’m going to make love to you, long and slow. But right now, I get my hands on you and I just ignite. Probably doesn’t say much for me as a lover.”

She laced her fingers behind his neck. “Or maybe it just means you find me irresistible.”

  He smiled. “That I do.”

“So now that you’ve fucked me––again––are you going to feed me? Because, I could eat.”

“Pizza sound good?” he asked with a laugh.

“Pizza would be great. Mostly because, you know, they deliver and we don’t have to leave the house. Which means after you feed me, you get to fuck me again.”

“You’re insatiable.” He grinned. “I like it.”

They straightened their clothes and Drew placed an order for a large pizza, then they cuddled on the couch and watched a movie. When the pizza arrived, Lexie beat Drew to the door, snagging the pizza and leaving him to pay the bill. He merely chuckled at her, paid the driver, and then followed her into the kitchen, where he found her opening every cabinet in the room.

“Where are the plates?” she asked.

“Left of the stove. And glasses are to the right of the sink.”

She pulled out everything they would need and set it down on the table. Drew took a cold two-liter bottle of soda out of the fridge. After adding ice to the glasses, he filled them up and put the soda away. Lexie put several slices of pizza on his plate before putting a few on hers. With a plate and glass in her hands, she sashayed back into the dining room, with Drew on her heels.

They continued watching their movie while they ate, then settled against one another when they were finished eating. Curled into his side, Lexie rested her head on his chest as she watched the action on the screen. She would have preferred a romance, but she had to admit the movie was good.
